A Queer Aussie’s Guide to Ireland
Ireland and Australia have a long history of community ties.
These have have contributed to the social, cultural and economic development of each other’s countries.
Communities that exist in Ireland and Australia are far from static and homogenous. Over the years they have become increasingly dynamic and diverse.
Legalisation of same-sex marriage
Recently the LGBTQ+ community has supported the achievement of milestones such as the legalisation of same-sex marriage in both countries in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
In this "Queer Aussie’s Guide to Ireland", Loretta Cosgrave founder of Sydney Queer Irish, and Tiernan Brady, Irish-Australian political and LGBTQ+ rights campaigner, talk about these vibrant community links between the two countries.
They also give some of their recommendations to our Australian friends visiting Ireland.
