Irish Literature and Melbourne Writers’ Festival 2024
Irish Literature and Melbourne Writers’ Festival 2024
This Melbourne Writers’ Festival (MWF) we are back with some amazing Irish Literature; from Booker Prize award winner, Paul Lynch to Booker Prize shortlisted Paul Murray and multiple award winning Sinéad Gleeson, who in addition to her essay collection 'Constellations: Reflections from Life' has just released her debut novel, Hagstone.
We have as well authors like Irish born Australian writer, Louise Milligan who is the depiction of the unique connection between Australian and Irish literature and our historical and long lasting relations.
As we pay our respects to the traditional owners of the land on which we live, we reflect on some of the work of First Nations authors and the value they bring to the festival.
Globally acclaimed, Miles Franklin-winning novelist, Alexis Wright, whose novel 'Praiseworthy' has been shortlisted for the Dublin Literary Award will be part of the highlights of this festival, and we’re looking forward to listening to her conversation on 12 May. Praiseworthy was nominated for this prestigious Irish award by the National Library of Australia, further strengthening the literary traditions between our Nations.
Our Embassy, through Cultural Ireland, has had the honour of supporting the Melbourne Writers' Festival and we have the pleasure of attending this year’s programme of events.
While most of the events are sold out, we include the links to some of the events here where you can learn more about the author and get your hands on their books to indulge in some excellent literature.
