Ambassador of Ireland to Belgium
Kevin Conmy
Welcome message
It is both a privilege and an honour to represent Ireland in Belgium. Relations between Belgium and Ireland are strong, vibrant and warm. They are also enduring.
Just like Ireland, Belgium is deeply attached to democratic values, has a dynamic and outward-looking economy and is proud of its vibrant and intellectual landscape.
Irish-Belgian cooperation is dynamic, intense and creative. Within the European Union and the United Nations, we are close partners working hand in hand for multilateralism.
Belgium is a key partner of Ireland and this is reflected in the strength of relations at both an official and personal level. We are both proud members of the European Union and share common values which bind us together.
We are also close trading partners and this can be seen in the ever-increasing levels of trade and investment and also in the field of scientific research. Our excellent trade relations are still expanding as we are working together on a resilient post-Brexit and post-pandemic economy.
Our cultural links stretch back to the 6th century, and this is reflected in the appreciation of many Belgians for our music, writing and art.
I would like to extend a particular welcome to newly arrived Irish people in Belgium. Please have a look at the resources available on our Embassy website. We look forward to working with you through the many Irish cultural organisations in Belgium.
Together with my Embassy team, we are committed to deepening relations with our Belgian hosts and serving the needs of Irish citizens.
With kind regards,
Mr Kevin Conmy
