The Northern Ireland Executive Office launches a 12-week public consultation on proposals to establish a statutory Inquiry for those affected by Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries, Workhouses and their pathways and practices; and an associated Financial Redress Scheme.
Information
In November 2021, the Northern Ireland Executive accepted the recommendations of the Truth Recovery Design Panel’s report Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses in Northern Ireland: Truth, Acknowledgement and Accountability (external link opens in a new window / tab)

This consultation seeks views on the focus of the public inquiry and the type of redress scheme to be established to inform the required legislation.
The responses received will be collated and a summary published at the end of the consultation period.
