Bloomsday celebration in Zagreb and Pula
Ambassador Dowling and guests celebrated the works of James Joyce, while Pula had a range of activities
The annual Bloomsday celebration at the Irish Residence in Zagreb took place this evening with guests from the diplomatic corps and the Irish community in attendance. Ambassador Dowling and others read their favourite passages from the works of James Joyce to the audience.
However, the annual Bloomsday celebration (14-16 June) in the City of Pula had even more James Joyce-related content, including the readings at the Uliks Cafe, workshops, a film, a book presentation and the "Ireland the Birth of Europe" exhibition at the City's library.
A Bloomsday concert took place in the Zagreb's Maksimir Park on 16 June. James Cannon and the Inicijativa choir performed that evening. Inicijativa organized the event.
