Our international partners
Membership of international organisations gives us a voice in the international community
In an increasingly globalised world, we need to work with other countries who share our common interests on issues such as peace and security, trade and economic development.
Our membership of international organisations like the United Nations and the European Union gives us a voice in the international community and allows us to promote and protect Ireland’s interests abroad.
United Nations
We share the principles and values of the United Nations and work closely with UN agencies across a range of issues.
European Union
We play a central role in the EU and help shape its policies through our engagement with its various institutions.
Council of Europe
Our involvement with the Council of Europe enables us to further co-operation between member states on issues such as democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
OSCE
Through the Organisation for the Security and Cooperation of Europe, we contribute to peace and security throughout the world.
