Europe Day 2024
European institutions across Europe welcome citizens to their Open Day events
On Europe Day, 9 May, the EU celebrates its achievements of unity and long-term peace, commemorating the signing of the Schuman Declaration in 1950. A month ahead of the European elections (from 6 to 9 June), citizens will have the opportunity to visit the EU institutions in Brussels and beyond, learning more about what Europe does for and with them.
On 4 May, at the Council in Brussels, visitors will have the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of EU leaders. Guided tours will be organised throughout the day, without prior registration, allowing citizens to explore also the architecture of the Council buildings. Younger visitors will enjoy a series of dedicated animations including a treasure hunt. Each of the 27 Member States will have a stand putting on display national traditions, food specialties and touristic attractions. The Perm Rep is responsible for Ireland's stand. There will be interactive activities, píosa beag gaeilge, Irish goodies and Irish dancers.
Access is free to everyone, no registration required.
Opening hours: 10:00 – 18:00
Entrance will be from the Justus Lipsius building: Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 175, B-1048 Bruxelles/Brussel.
