Play! Play! France-Ireland: 120 Years of Rugby
France has played Ireland in international rugby for more than a century.
It is a vibrant, colourful history that has been transformed from the first meeting in Dublin just after St. Patrick’s Day, 1909 to the modern professional contests that are now part of Six Nations and World Cup competitions.
The Centre Culturel Irlandais in partnership with the Irish Embassy in France have produced an exhibition mapping and celebrating 120 years of rugby between the two nations.
Curator Paul Rouse tells a fascinating story of a rivalry, that is also the story of a friendship and of cultural exchange uniting Ireland and France for twelve decades.
