Voting in the European elections in France as an Irish citizen
If you are an Irish citizen living in France, you can vote in the European elections in France. Please note you cannot vote in more than one country or constituency.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible to vote in France, you must:
- Be a citizen of an EU country
- Live in France
- Be at least 18 years old on the day before the first round of the election
How do I vote?
You must apply to be registered on the French electoral roll. The easiest way to register is online.
You will need to submit:
- A photo of your valid passport
- Proof of address from within the last three months (utility bill; payslip; rent receipt)
- Sworn statement (generated via the website)
The registration request will then be sent directly to your town hall and you will receive an update via email.
You can also apply in person or by post to the Mairie in your commune.
When is the deadline?
You must apply by May 1st, six weeks before the first round of voting.
