Visa queries for Embassy of Ireland, Great Britain
Please note that it is only possible to contact the Visa Office by email.
As we receive a high volume of enquiries, please provide the following details to assist us in responding to your query:
- If you have a general query please state your nationality and the UK residence permission you hold (e.g. ‘Indefinite Leave to Remain’, ‘Skilled Worker’, ‘Dependent Partner’ etc.)
- If you have already submitted a visa application, you must provide your visa application reference number.
Before submitting your query, please note the following
- It likely that you will find the answer to a general visa query (e.g. how to submit documents and pay fees, Visa Application Centre (VAC) locations etc.) in our visa information section.
- Please note that it is only permitted to apply for an Irish visa to the Embassy of Ireland in London if you are legally resident in the UK. Those in the UK on temporary visas (e.g. tourism) cannot apply for an Irish visa through this Embassy. Applicants for Irish visas worldwide must do so from their country of ordinary residence, in advance of travel, and in accordance with the arrangements in place for visa applications for that country.
- Non-EEA citizens with a long term UK Residence Permission who wish to travel to Ireland may need a visa to do so, as their UK Residence Permission (for example, as evidenced by their Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) Card) has no bearing on their permission to travel to Ireland. You can check IrishImmigration.ie to see if you require a visa to travel to Ireland.
- Processing times are advertised in our visa section. If your application is still within these time frames, please do not contact the office as you will not receive a response. This page also contains information on visas processed for the previous 4 weeks.
- Please note that customers residing in England, Scotland and Wales must submit their documents at a Visa Application Centre (VAC), administered on our behalf by VFS. It is not possible to make an online appointment – applicants must present without an appointment at a VAC in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff or Edinburgh, between 08.30 – 11.00am. Applicants will be served by VFS on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so early attendance is recommended.
- We do not offer an expedited service.
If your query relates to any of the matters above, please note you will not receive a further response from this office. For all other queries, we shall endeavour to respond within one working day.
