Irish Aid provides Global Citizenship Education (GCE) through a range of programmes and supports.
These programmes are suitable for students from primary school to third level and learners in the non-formal sector. A variety of GCE resources for educators and learners are available on developmenteducation.ie
Primary school
The DICE Project works with teacher educators and student teachers to integrate GCE into their teaching.
Global Village supports primary school teachers to enable their pupils to become active global citizens.
The Our World Irish Aid Awards provides lessons, interactive online games and fun activities for senior primary school pupils to learn about the work of Irish Aid and the SDGs.
Secondary school
WorldWise Global Schools supports teachers and school leaders to integrate a global justice dimension in their teaching and learning through curricular and extracurricular activities.
The Ubuntu Network supports the integration of Global Citizenship Education into post-primary initial teacher education.
Ubuntu provides a range of resources and supports to teacher educators and pre-service teachers in Ireland. Irish Aid, in association with Self Help Africa, sponsors the Science for Development Award at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.
The winners of the award a bursary to travel on a field testing visit to a country in Africa.
Youth sector
Youth 2030 is the Global Youth Work programme for the Youth Sector. Global Youth Work aims to empower young people to engage with social justice issues explore their own values and connections with the wider world.
