Irish Aid workshops
Teachers can bring their students to the heart of Dublin to learn about the realities of life in rural Africa.
The Irish Aid Centre at 3 Clonmel Street, Dublin 2 provides highly participative workshops and is free of charge.
The workshops unearth the realities of life in a rural African community. They also look at how Ireland is leading the charge in the fight against hunger and poverty.
Pupils will explore the links between our lives and the lives of people in other parts of the world.
Students will also learn how protecting the environment can help improve the welfare of people in poor countries.
Interactive workshops
Experienced facilitators guide the workshops using activities to delve into the work of Irish Aid and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These interactive workshops last for 90 minutes and are also available online.
Workshops are suitable for Junior Cycle, Transition Year, CSPE and Senior Cycle Geography, Home Economics, Religion and Politics and Society. Workshops are also open to Leaving Cert Applied and Leaving Cert Vocational classes.
Summer of learning
During the summer, pupils ages 10-12 years can avail of our specially designed Summer Primary Schools Programme which uses games and music and are highly interactive.
Teachers are provided with a pre-visit and follow-on resources. Classes of 30 must be accompanied by two adults, including one teacher.
