Jordan Young Scientist delegation travel to Dublin to take part in the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
On 9 January, the winning team from the Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) 2023 programme travelled to Dublin to participate in the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE 2024), which is now in its 60th year. The students from the Islamic Scientific College in Amman had the opportunity to demonstrate their JoYS winning project, entitled "Artificial Nervous System," over the course of the week-long exhibition held at the Royal Dublin Society.
The delegation was visited at their booth by both the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and for Defence, Micheál Martin T.D., and the Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Seán Fleming T.D., where they had the opportunity to demonstrate their projects potential to control muscle movement via electronic stimulation. BTYSTE founder, Dr Tony Scott, also visited the delegation at their booth, acknowledging the exceptional work and dedication of the Jordanian students.
Over the course of their visit to Dublin, the JoYS delegation also had the opportunity to take part in a busy programme of engagements. This included visits to Trinity College and a number of Dublin’s museums, meetings at some of the major tech and ICT company headquarters in Dublin’s docklands, as well as the Department of Foreign Affairs in Iveagh House. The extensive programme providing the students with invaluable insights into Ireland's scientific and technological landscape, as well as offering a sample of Irish culture during their visit.
The Embassy of Ireland in Jordan is looking forward to supporting the Jordan Young Scientist programme in 2024, which hopes to see an even greater number of Jordanian students showcasing their passion and ingenuity in the scientific and technology fields.
