Family Storytelling Show: "Wild Atlantic Tales" and Storytelling Workshop at the National Library of Latvia
The audience of the family show "Wild Atlantic Tales" amused by the performance of Niall de Búrca in Riga.
On 18 June, as part of the celebration of Bloomsday, the Embassy of Ireland in collaboration with the National Library of Latvia organised a special performance in Riga by Irish storyteller Niall de Búrca. Niall is a seanchaí: a traditional storyteller who performs internationally, and interprets traditional Celtic stories and modern day fantasy novels.
In the morning session, the audience and especially a group of kids from the local kindergarten enjoyed immensely Niall's superb acting skills and vivid stories, which were full of fantastical elements, wit and humour.
In the afternoon, Niall led a workshop for librarians and Latvian storytellers, sharing some performing techniques, exploring story structure and tips on creating stories.
