Time for a Spring Clean-Up!
Embassy of Ireland coordinates diplomatic participation in Latvia’s national clean-up day, Lielā Talka.
On 27 April, Latvians were out in force in their neighbourhoods with gloves, bags, paintbrushes and other tools to get their communities cleaned up after the winter. The diplomatic community in Riga leant a hand and the Embassy of Ireland was proud to coordinate the involvement of foreign embassies in the Lielā Talka clean-up site at Zaķusala, and in Saulkrasti. It was a beautiful sunny day and everyone turned out in a good mood and ready to collect litter. Many bags were filled and the place looked great when we were finished.
As diplomats we are grateful to the city and the country which gives us a home for our time on posting. We know so well that all humans leave an impact on the environment. By participating in Lielā Talka, we are saying thank you to Riga and Latvia for having us, and we are reminding ourselves that it is important always to think of how we can reduce, reuse and recycle.
