Oisín McKenna in Oslo
Author Oisín McKenna discusses his debut novel
Oisín McKenna in conversation with Catriona Shine
On a very wet Wednesday in Oslo, London-based Irish author Oisín McKenna made an appearance at Prismatic Pages, Oslo's only all-English language bookshop in the heart of the city's lively Grünerløkka neighbourhooud.
Everyone in the packed bookshop was treated to a riveting conversation between Oisín and Oslo-based Irish writer Catriona Shine. Catriona, whose own debut novel Habitat was recently published, engaged Oisín on the wide variety of themes that his novel Evenings and Weekends deals with including sense of place, queer identity and more.
The audience were treated to a fine reading by Oisín of an excerpt from Evenings and Weekends before enjoying some refreshments provided by the Embassy. Ambassador Claire Buckley was delighted to attend and to meet with Oisín and Indigo Trigg-Hauger, the owner of Prismatic Pages as well as members of the local Irish community in attendance.
The demand for the event was so high that a separate event for book signing is taking place today, Thursday 5 September, for those who missed out on yesterday evening's conversation.
The event was kindly supported by a grant from Culture Ireland/Cultúr Éireann.
