Solas - Darkness into Light Event
Embassy supported Solas to raise awareness about mental health
On the morning of Saturday 18 May 2024, the Embassy supported and participated in Solas, a Darkness into Light event to raise awareness about mental health.
Organised by the Irish Association Korea (IAK), a large group of Irish, Koreans and expats converged at the Han River before dawn for a 5km walk into the light, to raise awareness about mental health and to raise funds for the benevolent fund of the IAK.
The event was supported by the Conrad Hotel, Diageo, The Craic House Irish Pub, and the Embassy of Ireland. Participants enjoyed the beautiful sunrise along the banks of the Han River, the encouraging and important remarks delivered by speakers, and the opportunity to have an open discussion about mental health with fellow participants.
Mental health is an issue of growing concern in Korea and around the globe. Irish Embassies have seen a significant increase in instances of Irish nationals seeking support due to mental health concerns. If you are suffering from poor mental health, help is out there.
