Former Ambassadors
In 1974 the Government of Ireland announced the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ireland and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as with the Kingdom of Bahrain (initially served from the Embassy of Ireland in Lebanon). In 1975 the Government of Ireland appointed Mr. Eamon Ó Tuathail as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as to Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Resident diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia commenced with the opening of the Embassy of Ireland in Jeddah in 1976, before relocating to Riyadh in 1985.
Diplomatic relations were established with the Sultanate of Oman in 1986, and with the Republic of Yemen in 1990
