Embassy History
Ireland and Singapore established diplomatic relations in 1974. Ireland opened a resident embassy in Singapore in 2000, which was for 24 years located in Liat Towers on Orchard Road alongside Enterprise Ireland. IDA Ireland opened its doors within Ireland House in 2011. In 2016, Ireland House further expanded with the opening of a Bord Bia office. In 2024 Ireland House relocated to its current location at 18 Cross Street.
The establishment of the embassy in Singapore followed the opening of the Embassy of Ireland in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which was Ireland’s first resident embassy in Southeast Asia. Ireland now has six resident embassies in South East Asia which include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hanoi, Jakarta and Manila.
The Embassy of Ireland Singapore is also accredited to Brunei Darussalam.
