Ireland Marches for Diversity at the 25th Annual Stockholm Pride
The Embassy of Ireland and the Irish community walked in the Stockholm Pride Parade on Saturday 5 August.
The Irish community walked in the 25th annual Stockholm Pride on Saturday, 5 August. This year’s theme was “Celebrate Diversity”. Our guest of honour, the fabulous Dee Bug, led the Irish contingent through the streets of Stockholm. The reception of the Celtic Goddess could not have been warmer!
The Embassy was delighted to join the diplomatic community in celebrating and highlighting the immeasurable contributions of LGBTI+ individuals and communities to all aspects of social, political and cultural life, past and present. Many thanks to everyone who joined us on the day and a special thanks to all those who paved the way before us.
The promotion and protection of LGBTI+ rights is a domestic and foreign policy priority for Ireland. We will continue working to firmly oppose any attempts to undermine existing international commitments and standards on LGBTI+ rights.
Human rights are universal and interdependent – LGBTI+ rights are human rights.
