Brendan Rogers
Welcome message
Céad míle fáilte!
On behalf of the team at the Embassy of Ireland in The Hague, welcome to our website.
It is a great honour for me to represent Ireland as Ambassador. I am delighted to have been appointed at a time when relations between Ireland and The Netherlands are strong and flourishing. I look forward to contributing to this vibrant, positive and forward looking relationship both bilaterally and as committed members of the European Union.
As Permanent Representative of Ireland to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), based in The Hague, I will also work to promote Ireland’s interests and values on the International stage.
Links between Ireland and The Netherlands go back a long time. There are many affinities between Irish and Dutch people and friendships between them are warm and close. Diplomatic relations between Ireland and The Netherlands were established in 1945 and the Irish Embassy was opened in The Hague in 1950.
Trade and investments links between our two countries continue to grow. I am honoured to lead an energetic Team Ireland in The Netherlands that brings together the Embassy, and our State Agencies - IDA Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia (Irish Food Board) and Tourism Ireland. I am also honoured to be Patron of the Ireland Netherlands Business Association (INBA), and I look forward to supporting the work of the board in the development of a new series of events in the coming year.
The Embassy is here to assist Irish people who may require support so please do not hesitate to contact us if we can help. We are committed- to providing the best possible service to our citizens and to the Irish Community in the Netherlands.
Lastly, one of Ireland’s greatest strengths is our Culture and the Embassy organises and supports a number of cultural activities every year. So, please follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram where you will find details of these events as well as other news about Ireland.
