Recipients of this year's Choctaw-Ireland Scholarships announced
Choctaw tribal members Cayden Keith Cooke Kirkpatrick and Jake Martin are this year’s recipients of the prestigious Choctaw-Ireland Scholarships offered in partnership with the Chahta Foundation. They will attend University College Cork, starting in September.
The program includes tuition and expenses for a full year of study for two Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma students. Cayden will study for a master’s degree in philosophy and Jake plans to work toward his master’s in museum studies.
The scholarship program was launched by the Government of Ireland in 2017 in recognition of the act of generosity and humanitarianism shown by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma towards the people of Ireland during the Great Famine, and to deepen the ties between the two nations today.
