Gaelic Games in Miami
On Saturday, June 15, the Consulate General of Ireland, in partnership with the Ballplayers Foundation Inc., hosted a historic display of Gaelic Games in Miami Beach. The event was organised in honour of the first official visit to Florida by the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media, Catherine Martin TD.
This is the first time for many years that hurling and Gaelic football have been played in Miami Beach. The Tampa Bay GAA team travelled to Miami for the games, playing against an array of Irish players hailing from all corners of Ireland. The Miami team was led by hurling legend and (now) local resident, JJ Delaney.
