Irish in Baseball: Consulate General of Ireland's April First Friday Networking Breakfast
The Consulate General of Ireland in New York invited Irish and Irish-American Baseball Team, the Wolfhounds, to talk about the legacy of Irish players in baseball and the waves that baseball is making in the U.S.A. & Ireland.
For April’s event of our First Friday Networking Breakfast Series, the Consulate General of Ireland welcomed guest Patrick Smith, Assistant General Manager of the Irish Wolfhounds Baseball Club as well as two players from the team, Garret Crowley and Mitch Hillert.
The Irish Wolfhounds Baseball Club, a recent project of the Irish American Baseball Society (IABS), took center stage as the team shared insights into their mission and achievements. With a focus on celebrating the impact of Irish and Irish-Americans in baseball; and nurturing the next generation of Irish players, the Wolfhounds have already made significant strides. Winning all three of their games, they exemplify the talent and dedication within the Irish baseball community. At the event, they excitedly announced their next game, June 15th in Rockland!
Beyond their victories on the field, the Wolfhounds are committed to promoting the sport globally. The group has made a tremendous efforts to grow the game among Irish and Irish-Americans throughout the United States and Ireland since their creation 10 months ago. The Wolfhounds help host and support Irish youth programs by providing equipment & training materials, and encouraging participation in the sport back in Ireland.
