June 2024 First Friday: a Farewell to 345 Park Avenue.
For June's #FirstFriday, we celebrated 30 years of Irish Diplomacy in New York at 345 Park Avenue ahead of the Consulate's move to 200 Park.
For June’s #First Friday networking breakfast, The Consulate General of Ireland in New York hosted our last Networking Breakfast in our current space at 345 Park Avenue. In celebration of the last 30 years at our current location, community members new and old joined us to reflect on the memories, history and heritage of Irish Diplomacy between 1994 and 2024.
We’re grateful to receive messages of well wishes from former Consul Generals posted at the consulate, including Donal Hamill (VC 1978-1983 and CG 1993-1997 ), Barrie Robinson (1997-2001) and Tim O’Connor (2005-2007). Thank you for sharing your experiences at the consulate over the year, and for your hopes on the future of Ireland in the world.
We we’re also joined by Dr. Elizabeth Stack, Executive Director of the American Irish Historical Society, who shared a history of the Consulate General of Ireland in New York since it’s inception. Providing his memories, and plenty of laughs, was Ray O’Hanlon, editor of the Irish Echo.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special moment, ahead of our move to the Metlife Building on 200 Park Avenue. We cannot wait to make more memories with our community as we move into a new space.
