For May's #FirstFriday Networking Breakfast, we invited Laura Weber, the designer behind #TeamIreland's Olympic Uniform to discuss the creation and inspirations behind the official Olympic kit!
This Month's Guest
We were delighted to host our special guest, Laura Weber - founder of LW Pearl brands & designer of the #TeamIreland 2024 Olympic kit! Born in Dublin, where she studied textile design at Dublin's National School of Art and Design, Laura made her way to New York to create her own brand and atelier company.
Best known in Ireland for her embroidery on Dr. Jill Biden's Inauguration coat and dress, designed by Gabriela Hearst, she has worked with names like Rhianna, Kaia Gerber and Lily Aldridge and also with designers like Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler and Thom Browne among others, from her studio in Manhattan’s Garment District.
In 2021, Laura was tasked with creating a new look for official wear for the Irish Olympians. These looks will be unveiled in Paris in 2024. Laura has designed and manufactured a totally new concept of contemporary suiting showcasing the aesthetic integrity that defines her brand.
“It’s always been about the athletes. I want to give them what they deserve, and make them feel special in that moment. That’s what clothing is for, to make you feel like your best self,” she explains.
