Important information regarding consular services
- The website contains relevant information regarding travel to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, passport applications, Irish visa applications, etc. The Consular Services Team will only respond to email queries which are not covered by the standard information provided on the website. Thank you for understanding.
- Irish citizens require a visa to visit Vietnam.
- Irish tourists intending to stay less than 90 days in Vietnam should apply for a multiple entry e-visa through the e-visa portal of Vietnam Immigration, available at this link: https://xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/. Please note that this is the only official e-Visa portal for Vietnam.
- The Embassy is unable to contact Vietnam Immigration on behalf of citizens. All queries relating to e-visas should be directed to Vietnam Immigration through the query form on the portal, or by emailing contact@immigration.gov.vn.
Emergency contact details
The Embassy’s working hours are 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, with a one hour break between 12pm and 1pm. If you require information outside these hours, please refer to the following options:
- If you are an Irish National who requires assistance in the case of a genuine emergency while the Embassy is closed, please contact us on +84 24 3974 3291 where you will be given details on how to proceed and how to contact a consular officer if needed.
- Alternatively, you can contact the Duty Officer at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin at +353 1 408 2000.
- The Embassy of Ireland in Hanoi will be closed on these dates.
Please note that Vietnam is 7 hours ahead of Ireland in winter, and 6 hours ahead in summer.
